For my first wedding venue wish list post, let’s start with some swoon-worthy intimate wedding venues tucked away in western Canada’s wilderness. In my opinion, there’s no better way to celebrate your special day than with only a handful of your closest friends and family. That’s why I’ve chosen to feature these venues first…

Ok, this first one is probably my favourite! What’s not to love? This venue is only accessible by air or water, so the adventure starts right off the bat. It is nestled in the Great Bear Rainforest and your guests get to sleep in they own cozy cabins, soak in the cedar hot tubs, hike, fish, whale watch and the list just goes on. Just imagine how ah-mazing your photographs could be!

Ever since I moved to Edmonton (fun fact — Edmonton is the North America’s northernmost city with a population over a million!) I fell in love with the aurora borealis. I’ve been know to drive 45minutes outside of the city to photograph them at 3 in the morning, when I knowingly had to wake up at 7 the next day…but I’m not crazy, they are simply THAT BEAUTIFUL! Now picture yourself snuggling with your love watching the lights dance in the sky after your intimate wedding ceremony at the Blachford Lake Lodge!

How unique is this?! This man – Rick Kunelius – is a mariage commissioner and also a helicopter pilot that will fly you and a couple guests to the summit of a mountain in the Alberta Rockies to get married. A few locations include Mount Charles Alpine Basin, Marvel Pass and Rocky Ridges.

Ok guys. Let’s just take a moment to appreciate the beauty here – those floor to ceiling wrap around windows, the white sandy beach, the intimate rustic log table and the mountains in the background have me speechless! The Wickaninnish Inn is the only venue on Tofino’s Chesterman’s Beach so it’s perfect for your romantic and private wedding ceremony and reception!

Well that wraps up the list of my four all-time favorite wilderness venues in western Canada. Just trowing these out there to inspire you if you are currently looking for a venue or to let you know that I am more than willing to join you! I’ll photograph the crap outta these locations!
Cheers to getting married outside!
