A MILLCREEK RAVINE WINTER ENGAGEMENT // EDMONTON, ALBERTA
Sonya and Zach. Kind, giggly and super sweet (like two gummy bears!). I love love love how easy these two made it for me to capture genuine smiles and emotion. I barely had to coach them and they were already looking perfect in front of the camera! If is this is what you guys can give my on such a chilly day, I can’t wait for your wedding where we won’t have to worry about loosing our fingers and our toes. ;)
We found ourselves in the Millcreek Ravine for these photos on one of the coldest days in the past couple weeks AND on Super Bowl Sunday. To anyone that knows him, this is a testament to how much Zach loves his Sonya. After asking him if he was a football fan (side ramble… I am so *embarrassingly* oblivious to most sporting events that I didn’t even know it was Super Bowl Sunday until that very morning when I woke up and saw everybody’s snack creations for the occasion on Facebook. After asking Zach that question, my mind immediately raced questioning myself if I got it right and the Super Bowl WAS in fact football. I was really hoping I got it right…) he quickly answered YES! and they both smiled. He then added that his team had lost already so it was ok if we missed part of it – otherwise we definitely would have had to reschedule! ;) I then promised him that we’d be done here in time to catch the start of the match. All was good in the world.
The Millcreek Ravine is a popular spot among Edmontonians and most people out that day were out walking their dogs. Even the cold temperatures didn’t stop anyone from enjoying the beautiful sunshine! We met many cute dogs – all wearing the most adorable coats and booties. It was almost like we were in the middle of a doggie fashion show! (Now if only our cats would wear cute booties and coats, am I right?!) Sonya couldn’t help herself from petting and saying hi to every puppy that came along and if it wasn’t for my camera in one hand and my bag in the other, I totally would’ve joined in!
Sonya and Zach also have such a beautiful engagement story! After discovering Andronyk Jewelry at a craft fair, Sonya fell in love with the handcrafted rings (and for good reason!). She then discreetly (or not so discreetly) decided to leave a business card on the fridge for Zach to see. Fast forward to their trip to Europe to attend a friend’s wedding. They spent a few days in Paris and Sonya half expected him to propose to her then. Surprise surprise, he didn’t…but it goes without saying, the story doesn’t end here! On their way back to Canada, the couple spent just a few days in Reykjavik, Iceland (an even more romantic and less cliché locale than Paris, France if you ask me!). Along side a beautiful waterfront, this is where Zach popped the question with Sonya’s dream engagement ring in hand. Awwwww ;)
Cheers to these two!
